FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons have announced they will be featured on HBO Sports documentary series Hard Knocks this summer. The five-part weekly series debuts Aug. 5 and concludes Sept. 2. The annual show gives fans an all-access, behind-the-scenes look at the daily lives and routines of players and coaches as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season. Falcons owner Arthur M. Blank says the team is "excited about the opportunity to give our fans a behind the scenes look at what it takes to prepare an NFL team for the rigours of a 16-game regular season and beyond." Hard Knocks is now its ninth season. Other teams previously featured on the award-winning reality series include the Ravens, Chiefs, Jets and Dolphins. The Cowboys and Bengals have each been featured twice. San Francisco won for just the sixth time in 24 games and snapped San Diegos season-high, five-game winning streak. Cuban defector Odrisamer Despaigne made his third career start for San Diego since being called up from the minors last month. The 27-year-old right-hander, who beat the Giants in his major league debut on June 23, wasnt as sharp this time. He overcame four walks and allowed one run and two hits over six innings, his shortest outing. In three starts since coming up from the minors, Despaigne has an ERA of 1.41. San Francisco third baseman Pablo Sandoval left the game in the first inning with a bruised left elbow after he swung and missed a pitch that hit him.
